I wanted to impart the feeling of vulnerability we humans can have to the forces of the outside world and to time itself. I used water to symbolize that force and the sense of sinking into the depths as the passage of time. On that journey we often face many challenges and obstacles, such as being set upon by predators or entangled by netting. When those forces are overwhelming it can feel like we are watching the cold slowly drain our life’s warmth. Through all of this, a faint hint of light still remains.
